Harvest Tea Service: Next Sunday at 4.00 pm. This will be an informal service to celebrate Harvest: tea/coffee to start, more tea/coffee + scones and cakes afterwards.
- If you can make scones or cake, please see Linda.
- There are invitation leaflets: please take some to give to friends and neighbours.
- Any gifts (non-perishable) will go to the Island Food Bank. At present, the Food Bank is especially asking for: sponge puddings, tinned soup, biscuits, long life juice; but they have enough cooking sauces, pasta, baked beans, tinned pulses, cereal, tea.
- Remember, no service at 10.30!
Praying for our streets:
This week in our 5-week cycle we are praying for Gunville Road (1-318, including the new houses). You might like to have a walk, perhaps with a friend from church.
Cleaning:
We have been looking for a new cleaner to take over from Sam Godley. We thought we had it all sorted, but the new person has had to withdraw. So do you know of anyone who would be interested in the work? It involves 2 hours a week.
MIXED-UP SHEEP
On Sundays we have come to a couple of weeks about sheep. Here are some Bible references to sheep (NIV translation). The missing words are in the box, jumbled up. Can you find the right word? It would be too easy if we gave the exact reference, so just the chapter is given.

Going through papers filed many years ago under “could be useful one day”, I came across this. – Martin

Ho Ho Ho Some food/drink-based contributions from Simon:
- I had a cracking lunch at an excellent Christian restaurant called The Lord Giveth. They also do takeaways.
- My mate lost his job in the orange juice factory. He just couldn’t concentrate.
- An apple pie in Jamaica is £1.50, a cherry pie in Barbados is £1.60 and a mince pie in Trinidad is £1.80. These are the pie rates of the Caribbean.
- Celebrations tubs are going to exclude Bounty in future. Wait for the mutiny….
- My partner played a trick on me the other day, so I decided I would play one on her. I’ve swapped the names on all her herbs and spices. She hasn’t realised yet, but mark my words, her thyme is cumin.
